IBM has axed reportedly at least 200 staff from its Tampines plant in Singapore. This is because the IT giant is shifting manufacturing of its IBM Power Systems to IBM Guadalajara, Mexico.
However, it has confirmed that the Tampines plant will continue to make the IBM System Z family of mainframes.
Other IBM operations in Singapore are not affected. These include the APAC and Asean HQ, Cloud Data Centre, IBM Centre of Blockchain Innovation, IBM Studios Singapore, Integrated Supply Chain Manufacturing Centre, and Services Integration Hub.
