NTT Docomo will launch its 5G service with a maximum data rate of 3.4Gbps in Japan on March 25. The downlink speed will increase to 4.1Gbps in June.
From 150 locations initially, the network will be expanded to all prefectures in June. By March 2021, more than 500 cities are expected to have access to the service through more than 10,000 base stations.
At launch, NTT Docomo’s lineup of 5G-compatible devices will include seven models in the docomo Smartphone series and a mobile Wi-Fi router. All models will be compatible with its existing LTE network.
Customers who purchase a 5G-compatible smartphone from NTT Docomo can choose from two billing plans according to their data needs.
