Taiwan Star Telecom picks Nokia for 5G network

Taiwan Star Telecom (TST) has awarded Nokia a contract for end-to-end AirScale Radio Access network portfolio for 5G non-standalone networks that will lay the foundations for 5G standalone in the future.

The telco recently secured 40MHz of bandwidth and is working on the initial phase of deployment. Some 126 commercial districts and retail zones are expected to be covered by the third quarter of 2020 with 80 percent of metropolitan areas reached by 2023.

“We are proud to continue working with Nokia who will support us and help us to realise our ambition and deliver 5G services to our subscribers country-wide,” said Cliff Lai, President of TST.
