StarHub starts 5G trial

StarHub is the first off the block in the race to deliver 5G services in Singapore. It ha started a six-month trial for consumers who own a t 5G-enabled smartphone on its three Mobile+ plans.

The trial leverages the telco’s existing 4G networks to give subscribers a taste of what 5G can offer, such as faster speed.

A full 5G experience will only be ready when the national-wide networks are ready in 2025.

During the trail, which ends next February, mobile download speeds will start from 100 to 660Mbps, gradually increasing over time. That’s between twice and 11 times faster than 4G networks.

5G signals should cover about 53 percent of Singapore’s populated areas, expanding to  70 percent by September in locations such as Ang Mo Kio, Bedok, the Central Business District, Jurong, Tampines,  and Woodlands.
