Samsung Electronics’s One UI 3 will give its Android 11 users a new design, enhanced features and greater customisation.
The upgraded interface has started rolling out on Galaxy S20, S20+ and S20 Ultra smartphones in South Korea, the US and most markets in Europe. More regions and devices will be added in the coming weeks.
“The launch of One UI 3 is just the beginning of our commitment to offering Galaxy consumers the best mobile experiences possible by giving them access to the latest OS innovation, as soon as it’s available,” said TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile Communications Business at Samsung Electronics.
“One UI 3 represents an integral part of our mission to continually create new innovative and intuitive experiences for our consumers throughout their device lifecycle. So when you have a Galaxy device, you have a gateway to new, unimagined experiences for years to come,” he added.
Features that are most visited and used use – such as home screen, lock screen, notifications, and Quick Panel – have been visually enhanced to highlight important information. Moving between devices is more seamless as One UI provides a singular, more holistic experience across the wider Galaxy ecosystem.
One UI 3 is also about simplicity, with enhanced everyday features to get things done easier. For instance, the redesigned Lock screen widgets help users control music and view important information without having to unlock the device. Another improvement is the tracking of intuitive tracking of messages and conversations with messaging app notifications grouped front and centre for quicker read and response.
The interface lets users customise in more ways than before — from constantly turing on dark mode to sharing mobile hotspot. Sharing of images, videos and documents should be much faster with the ability to pin most-commonly used destinations. It also lets users maintain different profiles for work and personal life.
