Google Cloud and Workspace get generative AI boost

Google has added generative AI capabilities to Google Cloud and Google Workspace.

New capabilities in Google Cloud AI include generative AI support in Vertex AI and a generative AI app builder,

Google is further incorporating AI into Google Workspace to help individuals achieve their goals, across Gmail, Docs, Slides, Sheets, Meet, and Chat. As a start, generative AI has been embedded in Docs and Gmail to help people with writing.

Developers wanting to build the next generation of applications with generative AI can check out the new PaLM application programming interface (API) that makes it easy and safe to experiment with Google’s best large language models.

The API comes with the intuitive MakerSuite tool that lets developers quickly prototype ideas . In time to come, the tool will have features for prompt engineering, synthetic data generation, and custom-model tuning.

“Breakthroughs in generative AI are fundamentally changing how people interact with technology – and at Google, we’ve been responsibly developing large language models so we can safely bring them to our products. We’re excited by the potential of generative AI and the opportunities it will unlock – from helping people express themselves creatively, to helping developers build brand new types of applications, to transforming how businesses and governments engage their customers and constituents,” said Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud.
