Tait Communications and Zetron have completed the rollout of voice console technology for New Zealand’s new Public Safety Network Land Mobile Radio (LMR) system.
New Zealand Police and Fire and Emergency New Zealand firefighters are already using it with ambulance services, including Hato Hone St John and Wellington Free Ambulance, set to follow.
The deployment is a key step in a NZ$1.7 billion, 10-year programme to modernise how the country’s emergency responders communicate.
Open standards
Zetron’s voice consoles let emergency dispatchers communicate with and coordinate first responders in the field efficiently, reliably and securely. They were integrated into the communications systems of the agencies using the LMR network.
“Tait’s open-standards interoperable technology allows our customers to select the best technology partners to best serve their needs,” said Yoram Benit, Chief Executive of Tait. “Zetron is a member of Tait’s Technology Partner Program, and we value Zetron’s collaboration to deliver a robust mission critical radio network to New Zealand’s emergency services agencies.”
Zetron President Scott French said the companies’ shared standards-based approach would give agencies flexibility as their requirements evolve.
“Our shared commitments to high quality, standards-based solutions are aligned to offer customers optimal interoperability, flexibility and choice in meeting their specific requirements at every step of the emergency response continuum,” he added.
