Datacenters.com has launched Colocation Marketplace, claimed to be the “first platform to offer transparent co-location pricing from numerous providers to all visitors in an e-commerce platform”.Colocation pricing has been highly guarded within the data centre industry as providers are not keen to reveal their rates for fear of a price war. This works against co-location buyers who have to wait for up to weeks to receive pricing and quotes.
“We have seen a huge shift in the way that clients want to purchase technology services. We call it the consumerisation of IT and it’s a huge part of our strategy,” said Joel St.Germain, CEO of Datacenters.com.
Datacenters.com facilitates retail co-location transactions by providing a simple, easy to use, and transparent platform for co-location buyers and sellers. It Colocation Marketplace lets buyers shop, compare, and reserve co-location online.
By reserving co-location online, customers can lock in retail co-location packages at a set price for up to 10 days without any obligation.
Datacenters.com plans to add additional products and services to the Marketplace including bare metal servers, dedicated servers, connectivity, network, cloud services, and disaster recovery,
