SAP opens data centre in Singapore in e-commerce push

SAP has expanded its presence in Asia-Pacific (APAC) with the opening of a new data centre in Singapore to support SAP Commerce Cloud deployment.This is the German giant’s fourth such centre in the region — the others are in Australia, China and Hong Kong.

The Singapore centre will serve SAP customers in India and Southeast Asia. Singapore was chosen for its geopolitical stability and adherence to data privacy.

With the data centres in four parts of APAC, customers should be able to deploy the SAP Commerce Cloud with minimal latency and performance issue to deliver a seamless online shopping experience.

“Asia Pacific’s digital commerce environment offers businesses unprecedented growth opportunities and with our goal of helping our customers master their transition to the experience economy, the region has become a key market for SAP,” said Atul Tuli, Vice President and Head of Customer Experience of SAP Southeast Asia.
