No Computex in 2020

Computex has been an annual event since 1981.First, Computex was supposed to be held in June. Then, it was scaled down and pushed to September because of the global pandemic. Now, the organisers have announced that this year’s event will not take place at all.

Instead, the next edition will take place from June 1 to 5 at Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 and 2, TWTC Hall 1, and Taipei International Convention Center.

“Many countries have imposed travel restrictions to help curb the spread of COVID-19. Computex stakeholders, including international exhibitors, visitors, and media, may not be able to join the show consequently,” wrote the organisers.

This is the first time that the annual trade show has been cancelled since it began as the Taipei Computer Show in 1981. The only other time it was disrupted was the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS) outbreak in 2003.
