Passing your smartphone to someone is tantamount to giving the person access to everything in it. Among the most vulnerable items are personal documents, photos, audio clips, and videos. To safeguard personal content, Google has introduced Safe Folder.

This new feature is a folder that is secure and accessible using a four-digit PIN. It is locked when the Files app is swtiched away so the contents cannot be assessed even if the app is running in the background. PIN is required for re-entry.

Safe Folder has started rolling out in beta will be gradually to more people over the following weeks.
