Xiaomi avails MiTu Kids Watch 4X children’s smartwatch

No bells. No whistles. And definitely no big bang launch. Xiaomi has quietly rolled out in China the MiTu Kids Watch 4X, a new children’s smartwatch that packs quite a punch.

The new device can make VoLTE calls on 4G networks, take video calls, is water resistant, and can last up to a week without recharging.

A GPS module and SOS button enable parents to use smartphones running on Android 4.2 or higher and iOS 9 or higher to track their children’s location. For added security, the Xiaomi MiTu Kids Watch 4X also lets them view their children and surroundings with two cameras — one on the front to see their face and the other on the side to show the envrionment.

The 1.52-inch square screen is protected with Gorilla Glass 3 that is coated with an oil-repellent material to prevent stains.

AI voice assistant

With Xiao AI voice assistant, wearers can learn English and access a dictionary app. More educational apps can be downloaded to make the smartwatch an interactive learing device. The Xiaomi MiTu Kids Watch 4X also has built-in AI capabilities similar to Google Lens to analyse photos.

Available from August 16 for US$79, the smartwatch comes with a blue or pink silicone strap for longer durability.
