They’re finally here! The highly-anticipated GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 GPUs powered by the NVIDIA Ampere architecture have been revealed after weeks of leaks and rumours.
And they are breaking performance records — up to 2x the performance and 1.9x the power efficiency over the previous Turing-based generation.
“Today’s launch of NVIDIA Ampere GPUs is a giant step into the future. The work of thousands of engineering years, the GeForce RTX 30 Series delivers our greatest generational leap ever. Twenty years from now, we’ll look back and realise that the future of gaming started here,” said Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA.
The three new GPUs are:
- GeForce RTX 3090 — Priced at US$1,499 and referred to as the “BFGPU” — Big Ferocious GPU. It even comes with a silencer — it sports a three-slot, dual-axial, flow-through design that is up to 10x quieter than the TITAN RTX and keeps the GPU up to 30 degrees C cooler. With 24GB of GDDR6X memory, it can tackle the toughest AI algorithms and feed massive, content creation workloads. The RTX 3090 is up to 50 percent faster than the current ultimate PC graphics card, TITAN RTX, enabling gamers to experience 60 fps in 8K resolution across many top games.
- GeForce RTX 3080 — Starting at US$699, the RTX 3080 is the ultimate gaming GPU, delivering up to 2x faster than the RTX 2080. Featuring 10GB of the new high-speed GDDR6X memory running at 19Gbps, the RTX 3080 can deliver 60 frames per second for 4K resolution gaming.
- GeForce RTX 3070 — Starting at US$499, the RTX 3070 is faster than the RTX 2080 Ti at less than half the price, and on average is 60 percent faster than the original RTX 2070. It is equipped with 8GB of GDDR6 memory, hitting the sweet spot of performance for games running at 4K and 1440p resolutions.
The new cards feature several world firsts: dual-axial, flow-through thermal solution, exquisite mechanical and electrical design, HDMI 2.1, and AV1 decode.
The GeForce RTX 3090, 3080 and 3070 GPUs will be available as custom boards, including stock-clocked and factory-overclocked models, from add-in card providers such as ASUS, Colorful, EVGA, Gainward, Galaxy, Gigabyte, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY, and Zotac and as Founders Editions from www.nvidia.com.
GeForce RTX 30 Series GPUs will be in gaming systems built by Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and MSI, as well as leading system builders such as CyberPower PC, Digital Storm, Falcon NW, IBUYPOWER, Maingear, Origin, NZXT, and Puget.
The GeForce RTX 3080 and GeForce RTX 3090 will be available from September 17 and September 24 respectively while the GeForce RTX 3070 will be available from October.
For a limited time, gamers who purchase a new GeForce RTX 30 Series GPU or system will receive a PC digital download of Watch Dogs: Legion.
