Singtel has rolled out a three-month 5G trial for its consumer and enterprise customers. The service will run on its 5G non-standalone network and harness 3.5GHz frequency from Singtel’s newly expanded spectrum holdings as well as existing 2100MHz spectrum.
With 5G speed of more than 1Gbps, it will be nearly twice faster than StarHub’s 5G trial, which tops at 660Mbps.
The three-month trial will give subscribers an early taste of the ultra-fast mobile speeds and benefits associated with 5G, while they access content-rich services such as movies and games on their devices.
Singtel’s 5G service will cover high-traffic areas such as Bugis, Dhoby Ghaut and .Harbourfront.
20,000 early adopters
“With COVID-19 driving everyone online and dramatically increasing our reliance on digital services to work, learn and play, 5G is set to be a huge enabler in our lives in this new normal,” said Yuen Kuan Moon, CEO of Consumer Singapore at Singtel.
The 20,000 early adopters will enjoy free 5G connectivity and an additional 10GB of local data during the trial. Half of them will comprise existing Singtel Combo and XO customers with compatible 5G handsets while the other half will consist of eligible customers who buy a 5G phone.
Beyond these groups, others keen on 5G can enjoy the trial for S$10 per month.
