It seems like SoftBank is on the brink of selling Arm to NVIDIA. The deal is reported to be worth more than US$40 billion, representing more than 25 percent gain for SoftBank, which bought Arm for US$32 billion in 2016.
NVIDIA has been reported to be holding talks with SoftBank on the Arm purchase for weeks.
If the deal come to fruition, it could become one of the largest in the semiconductor industry. NVIDIA will also strengthen its position as a leading chipmaker, not just the GPU king, with the addition of the Arm portfolio.
Arm’s chips are used by the likes of Apple, Intel, Qualcomm, and AMD, the key rival of NVIDIA in the GPU space.
