Nokia will be powering its Smart Node all-in-one base stations for indoor 5G use with chipsets from Qualcomm Technologies.
Leveraging the Qualcomm 5G RAN platform for small cells, the compact plug-and-play base stations are designed to deliver indoor 5G coverage for residential and enterprise networks. 5G deployment can be achieved at a lower price point and smaller form factor, reducing the barriers to entry.
Nokia 5G Smart Nodes aree easy and quick to install, and a cost-effective way to extend the availability of 5G across multiple locations. Where total cost of ownership (TCO) is a key factor, 5G Smart Nodes deliver reliable voice, data and services over 5G with minimal overheads and do not require any specialist in-house expertise for installation.
“The flexibility and low-price points of 5G Smart Node products resulting from our close engagement with the team at Nokia will help accelerate the adoption of 5G in the residential and small office markets,” said Durga Malladi, Senior Vice President and General Manager of 4G/5G at Qualcomm Technologies.
“The 5G small cells arena is an area we are delivering unmatched innovation and working with Qualcomm Technologies is a testament to our mission to bring everyone into the world of 5G,” said Tommi Uitto, President of Mobile Networks at Nokia.
