DIY repair with Apple parts

Apple iPhone users, rejoice! You can now try fixing your smartphone instead of sending it to Apple or an authorised shop.

Apple will start selling about 200 parts and tools — with manuals to boot — for DIYers to repair their iPhone 12 and 13 batteries, cameras and displays.

Customers will pay the same price as independent repair shops and enjoy a discount for sending the used parts back to Apple.

The programme will be rolled out in the US early next year followed by other countries later. No date has been set for availability in Asia yet. It will also be extended to Mac computers using Apple’s M1 chip and later to less common repairs.
