Hands-on experience of the ASUS ROG Phone 6

ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the availability of the ROG Phone 6 in Singapore. The media had the privilege of checking out the phones at the ROG Experience Store at Bugis Junction before they were made available to local buyers.

Dedicated to gamers (but also boasting impressive camera specs – taking up to 8K videos), this phone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 mobile platform with an advanced GameCool 6 cooling system.

Two models of the ROG Phone 6 series are available in Singapore – the ROG Phone 6 and ROG Phone 6 Pro. The difference is the RAM – 16 GB vs 18 GB. The 6.78-inch AMOLED HDR 10 display is ideal for gaming. Users have the ability to set the display to 60, 90, 120, 144, or 165Hz for a smooth gaming experience.

The ROG Phone 6 is equipped with stereo speakers for an immersive gaming experience. An unique feature are the air triggers fitted around the phone (four corners), for a better gaming experience.

The new AeroActive Cooler 6 is a featured accessory for the phone. With three modes available (cool, frosty and frozen), gamers need not worry about the phone heating up while gaming. The frozen setting is apparently able to cool the phone down by up to eight degrees Celsius. The in-built humidity sensor ensures that condensation will not be an issue while in use.

The demo phone felt extremely sturdy. The high refresh rate also means that there is little lag between touch and actual gameplay – which enhances the overall gaming experience. The stereo sound and tactile vibrations also gave it a pretty comprehensive gaming experience – now, of course, it all boils down to what game you eventually will play using this phone – think PUBG?
