Meta has expanded its Upskill with Meta programme in Singapore to focus on AI and upskill 500 small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and more than 4,500 students with skills needed in the digital economy.
Launched at Meta’s APAC Headquarters in Singapore, the programme is aligned with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0, demonstrating the tech giant’s commitment to fostering local talent and business growth.
“We’re excited to expand our multi-year Upskill with Meta programme with AI-driven components so we can help local small businesses and students learn how to utilise these technologies hands-on and to play our part in creating a more skilled and productive workforce here in Singapore,” said Damian Kim, Managing Director of Singapore at Meta.
AI is set to give the Southeast Asian economy a total gross domestic product bump up of US$950 billion or 13 per cent by 2030. Singapore is setting itself up as a hub for AI development which opens great opportunities to local companies.
The expanded programme offers a comprehensive framework for growth, comprising three key pillars:
- SMB Programme: An eight-month initiative providing masterclasses on AI-powered digital marketing and business messaging tools, along with mentorship from Meta experts.
- Student Practitioner Programme: In partnership with AI Singapore, this programme offers free access to Llama education resources and AI Accelerator training, targeting 4,500 students, including those from all polytechnics in Singapore.
- Educators Programme: A collaboration between Meta and AI Singapore to scale homegrown educational resources, benefiting 100 Asean teachers through a train-the-trainer program.
“Our strategic partnership with Meta underscores our commitment to elevating AI capabilities and fostering a culture of continuous learning and development across the region. Together, we are shaping the future of AI education, driving innovation for the greater good.” said Koo Sengmeng, Head of LearnAI at AI Singapore.
