Cloudera and Vast Data target AI bottlenecks

Cloudera and VAST Data are partnering on a unified AI factory for enterprises running across on-premises environments and public clouds to accelerate training and inference while reducing infrastructure friction.

The joint setup is designed to help enterprises keep GPUs busy by moving data efficiently through AI pipelines.

It combines Cloudera’s lakehouse data services with Vast Data’s AI operating system, and uses NVIDIA AI data platform reference design as part of the architecture. Intended to continuously ingest, refine, govern, and deliver data to AI models, the platform gives enterprises a consistent operating model while allowing them to deploy services wherever performance, compliance and cost requirements are best met.

“Enterprises are investing billions in GPUs, yet many struggle to achieve full utilization due to data bottlenecks,” said Abhas Ricky, Chief Business Officer and General Manager of Applied AI at Cloudera. “Our partnership with Vast eliminates GPU starvation and enables customers to build true AI factories — where data flows seamlessly from ingestion to insight.”

According to Sunil Chavan, Vice President of APJC at Vast Data, the AI opportunity is increasingly defined by the ability to activate the data enterprises already hold. “By bringing together platforms responsible for many exabytes of customer-managed data, Cloudera and Vast can help organisations turn established data estates into the foundation for production-scale AI,” he said .
