Singapore picks Thales for AI-enabled air traffic management system

The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has chosen Thales to build a new AI-enabled air traffic management system and deploy next-generation air traffic control radars that improve efficiency, safety and sustainability across one of Asia’s busiest airspaces.

The NexGen Air Traffic Management System (NexGen ATMS) will involve replacing the current Lorads III platform with Thales’ TopSky – ATC One solution, alongside knowledge-transfer work that includes CAAS officers joining the project office in France and localisation projects in Singapore.

TopSky – Sequencer, an AI-based sequencing tool, will optimise arrival and departure flows and reduce delays, fuel burn and carbon emissions. Two new air traffic control radars will be installed to provide 24/7 aircraft detection even in challenging weather.
