Veeam has launched Veeam Data Cloud Vault Archive, a new archival cloud tier that helps enterprises move older backup data off premium storage while keeping it secure, compliant and recoverable.
Available now alongside Veeam Data Platform v13.1, the tier targets redundant, obsolete and trivial (ROT) data, as well as large unstructured data sets and aged backups to lower storage costs without sacrificing immutability, encryption, logical air-gapping, or residency controls.

According to Veeam research, backup repositories are targeted in 96 percent of ransomware attacks, while 58 percent of organisations say data residency and sovereignty are the most important factor in deciding where data is stored.
Vault Archive acts as a managed cloud alternative to tape, with policy-based tiering and support for the 3-2-1-1-0 backup rule.
The archive tier ships with Veeam Data Platform v13.1, which also adds NAS Direct to Archive and expanded threat detection for NAS and cloud workloads.
