NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang (above) dubbed it the “world’s biggest GPU”. And he certainly wasn’t kidding as the NVIDIA DGX-2 is a massive 350-pounder that delivers an amazing two petaflops of computational power.
To put things in perspective, the DGX-2 has the deep learning processing power of 300 servers occupying 15 racks of space. It’s also 60 times smaller and 18 times more power efficient.
“The world wants a gigantic GPU, not a big one, a gigantic one, not a huge one, a gigantic one,” declared Huang at the opening keynote of GTC 2018.
He also teased the audience on the pricing by first revealing a slide that showed US$1.5 million. In the next slide, the price was shown to be US$399,000.
That got the participants all excited with one from a large Japanese electronics company saying that he can’t wait for the DGX-2 to be available later this year.
