2 Singapore IT events shelved, Computex Taipei to go on

COVID-19 is leaving a trail of cancelled events in its footpath. Two IT events scheduled this week in Singapore have been canned.

Supercomputing Asia (SCA20) and Emtech Asia were supposed to take place this week but both organisers decided to pull the plug in light of the novel coronavirus situation.

Emtech Asia has been pushed to August 4 and 5 while SCA20 has been cancelled.

When the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) struck in 2002-2003, the organisers of Computex Taipei shifted its show to later in 2003.

However, it looks like Computex Taipei will proceed as normal from June 2 to 6. Organiser TAITRA has informed participants that it is taking “necessary precautionary measures to ensure the safety and health of all visitors to visit Taiwan International Trade Shows”.

“Taiwan is recognised with one of the best medical systems and services in the world and the confirmed cases are still under control among Asian countries. To encourage international buyers to continue to visit Taiwan, we have taken the strictest precautionary measures and will provide additional travel incentive packages as well as integrated online/offline services to maximise the benefits of your business trips to visit Taiwan International Trade Show,” wrote the organiser.
