WhatsApp messages just keep growing and growing, taking up tons of space on users’ smartphones. Deleting messages can be troublesome and time-consuming. A newly-announced feature lets users choose if they want their messages to disappear after seven days.
When activated, new messages in a chat will disappear after a week, helping the conversation feel lighter and more private. This feature can be controlled by individuals in person-to-person chat while only the admin has control in group chats.
“Our goal is to make conversations on WhatsApp feel as close to in-person as possible, which means they shouldn’t have to stick around forever. We’re starting with seven days because we think it offers peace of mind that conversations aren’t permanent, while remaining practical so you don’t forget what you were chatting about,” said Facebook in a blog post.
The new feature will be rolled out across platforms everywhere this month (November 2020).
