Perplexity has brought its Portable Computer agentic AI platform to Windows PCs powered by AMD’s Ryzen AI Max Series processors, including the Ryzen AI Halo developer platform, to enable subscribers to run local AI agents and recurring workflows without consuming Perplexity Computer credits for inference.
The move extends Perplexity’s agentic PC push after last month’s launch of agentic PCs with NVIDIA GPUs, making AMD-powered machines as alternative hardware tier for on-device AI reasoning and task automation.
“With Perplexity Portable Computer running on systems powered by AMD Ryzen AI Max Series processors – including the AMD Ryzen AI Halo developer platform – powerful AI models and agents can run directly on the PC and work across the applications and workflows people use every day with the flexibility to run AI locally and tap into frontier-scale reasoning when needed,” said Jack Huynh, Senior Vice President and General Manager of AMD’s Computing and Graphics Group.
“Together with Perplexity, we’re redefining what the PC can be in the Personal AI Era: personal, powerful, open and intelligent by design. This is more than a new generation of PCs. It’s a new generation of computing,” he added.
AMD’s Ryzen AI Max chips combine CPU and GPU performance with a large shared memory pool to run local models with everyday applications. Perplexity supplies the models, agent tools and controls in Portable Computer to make agentic workflows practical on-device, with cloud fallback when needed.
