Dropbox launches cloud content governance tool in Singapore

Dropbox has rolled out Dropbox Protect in Singapore to empower IT and security teams with a central console to monitor and control content access across Dropbox, Google Drive and Microsoft 365.

Singapore is the second market globally to receive the product, after its debut in Japan in September. Dropbox Protect is a response to growing enterprise AI adoption and increasingly complex, cross-platform collaboration, where permissions accumulate and external users may retain access after projects end.

“Singapore businesses are moving quickly to adopt AI and new ways of working, but the more connected work becomes, the harder it can be for IT and security teams to maintain a clear view of who has access to sensitive content,” said Kenny Takeuchi, Vice President of APJ Sales at Dropbox.

Dropbox Protect replaces manual reviews across separate admin consoles with a single interface for identifying risky sharing, tracing how access was granted and remediating permissions across thousands of files.

Capabilities include visibility over public links, external collaborators, inherited permissions, and stale content; remediation of risky permissions; and automated policies to enforce least-privilege access and flag unsafe sharing.

The tool can also preserve human oversight and approvals as workflows become more agentic.

Dropbox Protect is available in Singapore as a web-based application in English with no additional software installation required. Dropbox plans to expand the solution to the rest of Asia Pacific.
