Parler’s website back, service still down

An unlikely source has helped to revive social media platform Parler, a week after its forced removal by America’s Big Tech firms. Reports suggest that its website is now hosted on Russia’s DDOS Guard.

However, its service is still offline. John Matze, CEO of Parler, told Fox News in an interview that he was confident the platform would be back up by the end of January.

Parler’s troubles began when Google and Apple removed the app from their online stores amid claims that it was being used by Trump supporters to organise the US Capitol attack.

This was followed by the deadly blow by Amazon Web Services to suspend Parler from its hosting services.

Now that the website is up, the next steps should be to restore the service and get the app relisted on Google and Apple stores, which may not be as straightforward.
