PSA Singapore (PSA) is is adopting a multi-cloud approach for Tuas Port, the world’s largest fully automated, intelligent and sustainable port, which should be ready by the 2040s. Using Dell solutions, it aims to revolutionise port operations and create an intelligent logistics ecosystem that enhances operational efficiency and boost capabilities for handling massive cargo volumes.
Formerly know as the Port of Singapore Authority, PSA expects to almost double its handling capacity from 37 million units in 2022 to 65 million units.
Dell has supported PSA in integrating a multi-cloud foundation which plays a crucial role in expediting cargo’s time-to-market and helps PSA seamlessly navigate the complexities of modern logistics. It also advances PSA’s ambition to establish an ecosystem of communities connected with interoperability through a global “Internet of Logistics” (IoL) initiative. Companies within the ecosystem will be able to share applications and data services seamlessly.
The technological backbone is an array of solutions including Dell VxRail, Dell Unity XT storage and Dell PowerScale storage systems. Dell Technologies is also collaborating with partners such as VMware to design a software-defined data centre (SDDC) with multi-cloud capabilities for PSA.
Under this partnership, PSA is equipped with centralised, on-demand access to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) options.
With the implementation of the SDDC and added flexibility and automation, IT personnel at PSA can focus on innovation to stay competitive.
“By working closely alongside technology partners such as Dell Technologies, PSA aims to create an ecosystem of connected logistical operational platforms, enabling plug-and-play exchange and interoperability among our logistics and supply chain partners.” said Sriram Ramanujam, Assistant Vice President of PSA.
“Working together with PSA, Singapore is becoming a pivotal ocean-air freight hub and is paving the way for expanded route options for shipping companies worldwide,” said Andy Sim, Vice President and Managing Director of Singapore at Dell.
