Singtel, is introducing the cutting-edge NVIDIA AI platform to businesses in South East Asia (SEA). The move aims to establish energy-efficient AI data centres that serve as sovereign national resources — dubbed as AI factories — across the region.
The project involves deploying NVIDIA Hopper architecture GPUs in Singtel’s AI data centres. These centres will utilise NVIDIA AI reference architectures, renowned for delivering optimal performance. The aim is to process private datasets of companies, startups, universities, and governments securely onshore, generating valuable insights.
The first wave of Singtel’s AI services is set to debut in Singapore, with additional AI data centres under construction in Indonesia and Thailand. The strategic location of these facilities will enable Singtel to serve a vast region, spanning from Australia to India.
Singtel’s new data centres are poised to become trusted engines of generative AI, a transformative technology with the potential to amplify human intelligence and productivity.
Governments worldwide are investing in large language models (LLMs) tailored to their local dialects, cultures and practices, making Singtel a key player in the diverse SEA landscape.
The initiative aligns with Singapore’s national AI strategy which aims to empower citizens with the latest technology. The plan includes a significant expansion of the country’s compute infrastructure and the cultivation of a talent pool of machine learning specialists.
Singtel is not only focusing on technological advancements but is also committed to environmental sustainability. The new AI data centres are being constructed with a keen eye on sustainability, incorporating environmentally friendly materials and liquid cooling. The company aims for a Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) metric of less than 1.3, reflecting its dedication to energy-efficient data centre operations.
Singtel’s Paragon software platform will be pivotal in orchestrating the synergy between new AI applications and existing mobile and broadband services. This combination will enable edge computing services, empowering applications such as robots and autonomous systems with AI models running in the cloud.
As an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, Singtel will offer its customers the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform for building and deploying AI applications, including generative AI.
