Space situational awareness (SSA) services player Aldoria is collaborating with content connectivity solutions provider SES to develop a conjunction alert service geared towards augmenting satellite safety.
Effective March 1, 2024, the three-month project involves Aldoria deploying its conjunction alert service to equip satellite operators with advanced tools for satellite tracking.
The service aims to identify potential collision risks and deliver timely alerts through conjunction data messages (CDM). These messages will contain critical information, including the time of close approach, relative position and velocity of neighboring space objects, and associated collision probabilities.
Aldoria successfully orbited more than 2,900 satellites in 2023 and has plans to launch four tons of satellites daily by 2032. Space situational awareness capabilities have thus become imperative for operators.
The primary objective of the project is for Aldoria to establish new benchmarks in performance by enhancing accurate and reliable tracking capabilities. SES will benefit from Aldoria’s risk mitigation solutions, gaining access to more precise data for making well-informed decisions.
“With this agreement, we are well-positioned to maintain our track record of setting the benchmark for European SSA services, delivering a competitive solution tailored to the market. We are excited to explore the potential for future collaboration,” said Romain Lucken, CEO of Aldoria.
“Through our previous collaboration, Aldoria has provided innovative solutions enabling us to meet evolving challenges. We are looking forward to embarking on this new project with Aldoria and working together in the coming months,” said Davide Menzio, Project Manager and Flight Dynamics Engineer of SES.
