Apollo Go makes Yangtze River crossing

Baidu’s Apollo Go autonomous ride-hailing service has become the first to offer fully driverless rides across the Yangtze River in China.

The service is now available in Wuhan, where 11 bridges connect the north and south banks of the Yangtze River.

However, the rivers do not present a challenge to the Apollo Go vehicles. These fully driverless vehicles can traverse Yangsigang Yangtze River Bridge and Wuhan Baishazhou Bridge, providing seamless connection and greater accessibility to the city’s 14 million residents.

In the fourth quarter, fully driverless vehicles account for about 45 percent of Apollo Go rides in Wuhan.

In 2024, Baidu aims to achieve operational break even for Apollo Go and replicate its success in Wuhan in other regions.

Baidu Apollo’s advanced autonomous driving systems have safely completed more than 90 million kilometres of testing, leading the world in high-level autonomous driving patents with more than 5,000 patents.
