Google Cloud has named Rahul Sharma (above) as Managing Director of its public sector business in Asia Pacific. He is responsible for leading the company’s strategy and execution for partnering with government and education organisations to advance their digital roadmaps.
Based in Singapore, Sharma reports to Karan Bajwa, Vice President of Google Cloud in Asia Pacific.
“With Rahul at the helm of our public sector organisation, we look forward to driving even more transformation technology partnerships with regional governments, and helping them advance their digital roadmaps,” said Bajwa, Vice President, Asia Pacific, Google Cloud.
Sharma has nearly three decades of experience having held regional leadership roles in Amazon Web Services (AWS) public sector business for Asia Pacific, AWS India and IBM.
He served on NASSCOM’s Executive Council (2019-2023), where he led the development of the National COVID response platform and spearheaded efforts to upskill the Indian IT workforce. He also served as Chair of the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry IT & ITES Council from 2022 to 2023.
