The Global Telco AI Alliance (GTAA) is establishing a joint venture (JV) to co-develop and launch multilingual large language model (LLM) to meet the needs of telecommunications companies.
Subject to regulatory approval, the JV will be equally funded by founding members Deutsche Telekom, e&, Singtel, SK Telecom, and SoftBank. It will develop the telco LLM to help telcos improve their customer interactions via digital assists and other innovative AI solutions.
The Telco LLM will be in multiple languages, including Arabic, Bahasa, English, German, and Korean, The launch of the JV is subject to customary regulatory approvals.
Held at DTW24 in Copenhagen, the second Global Telco AI Roundtable (GTAR) reaffirmed GTAA’s dedication to driving innovation and collaboration in the telecoms industry. Key progress achieved by GTAA was highlighted, including AI governance systems and AI use cases reshaping the telecom landscape.
In his opening address, SKT’s CEO Ryu Young-sang pointed out that, through the Telco LLM JV, new business opportunities will be created and enhanced levels of customer experiences will be achieved.
