Broadcom boosts innovation and security with VCF updates

Broadcom has updated its VMware Cloud Foundation (VCF) private cloud platform to support customers’ digital innovation through faster infrastructure modernisation, improved developer productivity, and enhanced cyber resiliency and security.

The latest release introduces a VCF Import feature that allows for seamless integration of existing vSphere and vSAN environments into VCF, enabling centralised management and resource optimisation without requiring a complete rebuild of customers’ environments. This is expected to significantly accelerate VCF adoption and improve time to value for customers.

For developers, the new release simplifies application deployment and management with quick start templates, easy network integration, and advanced performance insights. It also offers Tanzu Kubernetes Grid as an independent service, aligning with upstream Kubernetes releases to provide developers with the latest versions more quickly.

Security and resilience have been bolstered with features such as ESXi Live Patching, which allows administrators to apply critical patches without maintenance windows, and Flexible VCF Component upgrade for streamlined patch management. The platform now supports dual data processing units (DPUs) to ensure continuity and protection against DPU failures.

With the new release comes VCF Edge which provides an optimised configuration for edge use cases, offering scalable, cost-efficient, and flexible management from data center to edge. Additionally, VMware vSphere Foundation, has been updated to support modern IT requirements with improved operational efficiency, security, and workload performance.

“With our latest release, VCF is delivering on key requirements driven by customer input. The new VCF Import functionality will be a game changer in accelerating VCF adoption and improving time to value. We are also delivering a set of new capabilities that helps IT more quickly meet the needs of developers without increasing business risk,” said Paul Turner, Vice President of Products at Broadcom’s VMware Cloud Foundation division, Broadcom.

VMware Cloud Foundation 5.2 and VMware vSphere Foundation 5.2 are expected to be available in Q3.
