NetApp has unveiled a new generative AI (GenAI) data vision and end-to-end integrated solution that will transform how businesses leverage their data for AI applications. The solution combines NVIDIA’s AI software and accelerated computing with NetApp’s intelligent data infrastructure to power enterprise retrieval augmented generation (RAG) and future agentic AI applications.
It introduces advanced capabilities to NetApp’s ONTAP unified storage operating system, utilising a global metadata namespace to unify data stores. Enterprises can now access and leverage exabytes of data stored across various cloud and on-premises infrastructures, enhancing RAG capabilities and accelerating next-generation AI applications.
The offering seamlessly integrates NetApp’s proven AIPod architecture, ONTAP system, and BlueXP unified control plane with NVIDIA’s NeMo Retriever and NIM microservices, which are part of the NVIDIA AI Enterprise software platform. Enterprises planning to harness AI will benefit from a smooth and efficient workflow.
NetApp customers will be able to easily discover, search and curate data both on-premises and in the public cloud, while adhering to existing policy-based governance criteria. This is crucial for maintaining data integrity and compliance in AI operations.
The NetApp-NVIDIA collaboration is set to create a foundation for a GenAI flywheel, empowering next-generation agentic AI applications. These applications will be capable of autonomously and securely accessing data to complete a wide range of tasks, including customer service improvements, streamlined business operations and enhanced financial services.
The end-to-end integration preserves security and policy guardrails throughout the AI data and model lifecycle, ensuring that enterprises can leverage their data for AI applications without compromising on security or compliance.
