Leighton Asia seals data centre deal in Hyderabad

Leighton Asia has been awarded a contract to construct a state-of-the-art data centre in Hyderabad. Commissioned by an unnamed multinational technology corporation, this deal marks the Cimic Group subsidiary’s second engagement with this client.

The Hyderabad data centre project is a joint venture between Leighton Asia and Sterling and Wilson, encompassing comprehensive construction services including civil, structural and architectural works, as well as mechanical, electrical and plumbing fit-outs.

The scale and complexity of the undertaking reflects the increasing demand for robust digital infrastructure in India.

“Our commitment to delivering cutting-edge infrastructure, and the role of Asia and India in advancing the digital future, is deepening our collaboration with these operators in the region,” said Juan Santamaria, Executive Chairman of CIimic Group.

In line with growing environmental concerns and sustainability initiatives in the tech sector, the Hyderabad data centre is targeting an Indian Green Building Council (IGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold certification. It’s a commitment to sustainable design and operation aligns with global trends towards reducing the environmental impact of digital infrastructure.

Winning the contract not only expands Leighton Asia’s portfolio in India but also adds to its growing presence across the Asian data centre market, with projects already underway in Hong Kong, Malaysia, Indonesia, Macau, and the Philippines.

“Securing another data centre project in India demonstrates our core expertise in delivering complex engineering solutions,” Brad Davey, Managing Director of Leighton Asia.

With construction set to be completed in Q4 2026, this data centre represents a long-term investment in India’s digital future.
