Ugreen Uno 2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charger: Great looker and versatility

By Edward Lim

At Computex in Taipei in June, I was drawn to a booth that showcased some interesting looking products. They weren’t for sale but I thought to myself that it would be great to check them out once they’re available.

Lo and behold, I was passed one of these to review just before Christmas. The Ugreen Uno 2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charger 15W is a compact and versatile charging solution with several notable features.

Aesthetics first, it has an emoticon that shows once a device is fully charged. The charger feels solid at 356g, making it a stable for using on the desk.

It comes with a flip top that can charge selected iPhones with Qi2 capabilities. Under the flip, is a 5W wireless charging spot for AirPods. And there’s also a USB-C point for to charge other devices.

What’s Good

  1. Innovative design: The charger scores with its unique and playful design, breaking from the traditional cold feel of other chargers. Its top flap can be adjusted to 70 degrees while charging, doubling up as a phone stand for watching videos or during video calls.
  2. Fast and efficient charging: The Ugreen Uno 2-in-1 charges selected iPhones from zero percent to 41 percent in about 30 minutes.
  3. Multi-device charging: Up to three devices can be charged simultaneously, making it a versatile charging solution.

WHAT COULD BE BETTER

While the charger is compact, its weight and design make it more suitable for desk use rather than as a travel charger. The Qi2 standard limits the phones that can be charged wirelessly, discounting most, if not all, Android phones.

Even though it’s intended for the Apple ecosystem, the lack of a cable or wireless sport to charge the Apple Watch makes it less appealing.

Recommendation

The Ugreen Uno 2-in-1 Magnetic Wireless Charger 15W is best suited for Apple users who own multiple devices (iPhone, AirPods and Apple Watch), and appreciate looks and innovative design. Its list price is S$89.99 but you should be able to get a better price here.

As for Android users, let’s hold our breath till new models of smartphones sporting the Qi2 wireless standard come out.
