Meta and the Singapore government have partnered to launch the Llama Incubator Program to foster open-source AI capabilities among startups, local SMEs and public sector agencies.
Meta’s first such venture in the Asia-Pacific region involves collaborations with key government agencies, including the Ministry of Digital Development & Information (MDDI), InfoComm Media Development Authority (IMDA), Government Technology Agency of Singapore (GovTech), Digital Industry Singapore (DISG), Enterprise Singapore, AI Singapore, and SGInnovate, plus programme partners e27 and Deloitte.
The Llama Incubator Program aims to support 100 organisations, with 40 being incubated over a six-month period. Participants will receive comprehensive support, including technical and business mentorship from industry experts, access to Meta’s cutting-edge open-source Llama model, and resources to develop innovative AI solutions.
The programme emphasises responsible AI practices, with a focus on safety and trust tools, aligning with Singapore’s National AI Strategy 2.0.
“The Llama Incubator Program will play an important role in driving that in Singapore. In partnership with government and industry partners, we are empowering local small businesses, driving innovative startups to scale and supporting public sector innovation,” said Simon Milner, VP of Public Policy for APAC at Meta.
“The Llama Incubator Program is an excellent platform for the Public Service to customise AI solutions for its specific needs. The government track provides public officers with the opportunity to collaborate with industry partners in developing innovative AI-driven solutions,” said Goh Wei Boon, Chief Executive of Government Technology Agency of Singapore.
