CapitaLand to drive digital transformation in China with Alibaba Cloud

Alibaba Cloud and CapitaLand Group have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to accelerate CapitaLand’s digital transformation in China.

Building on a collaboration that began in 2015 and was formalised in 2019, the renewed agreement expands beyond basic cloud infrastructure to leverage Alibaba Cloud’s advanced artificial intelligence (AI) applications, including its large language model Qwen, across multiple business domains.

The enhanced partnership aims to improve CapitaLand’s smart operations and customer service experience by integrating AI-powered technologies across its diverse online and offline businesses.

Through Alibaba Cloud’s big data platform, the real estate group plans to develop an insights-driven system enabling informed decision-making through advanced analytics, customer profiling, precision marketing, and risk management.

The MoU also includes incorporating Alibaba Cloud’s environmental, social, and governance solutions to create a greener, low-carbon real estate ecosystem.

“As a leading diversified real estate group with a strong focus on innovation, CapitaLand has continuously integrated technologies to drive business growth since 2015. We believe that through deeper cooperation with Alibaba will elevate our collaboration to a new level,” said Puah Tze Shyang (top left), CEO of CapitaLand Investment (China).

“This renewed collaboration underscores our shared commitment to fostering innovation and building a seamless online and offline ecosystem that is more connected, efficient, and customer centric.” said Jessie Zheng (top right), Chief Strategy Officer of Alibaba Cloud Intelligence.

Since moving its enterprise systems to Alibaba Cloud, CapitaLand has significantly reduced IT infrastructure costs in China by eliminating the need for local servers.

The launch of CapitaLand’s data platform in 2020 now provides integrated data support for finance, asset management, leasing and membership operations to serve as a foundation for continued digital innovation.

Alibaba Cloud’s technologies currently power many of CapitaLand’s properties and facilities management in China, supported by a global infrastructure of 89 availability zones across 29 regions, with its international headquarters in Singapore.
