F5 intends to acquire CalypsoAI to better meet the rapidly evolving security needs of enterprises deploying generative and agentic AI.
Valued at US$180 million, the deal is expected to close by end September 2025. It will bring CalypsoAI’s platform under the F5 banner to strengthen its application delivery and security platform (ADSP) with dedicated AI guardrails.
AI guardrails are a set of technical, procedural and policy-based controls designed to keep AI systems operating within defined boundaries for safety, security and compliance. These controls monitor AI input and output in real time, automatically checking for data privacy risks, inappropriate or biased content, and regulatory compliance breaches.
CalypsoAI is a pioneer in enterprise AI security that is known for its real-time threat defense, red teaming at scale, and robust data security measures. Its adaptive AI security capabilities operate across diverse models and clouds.
“AI is redefining enterprise architecture — and the attack surface companies must defend. Traditional firewalls and point solutions can’t keep up. The addition of CalypsoAI will give enterprises the confidence to innovate faster and better protect critical data as they rely on F5 to deliver and secure apps, APIs, and AI models across their environment,” said François Locoh-Donou, President and CEO of F5.
““Our customers rely on us to pressure test AI systems at scale, set inference layer guardrails that adapt as models change, and to gain visibility and auditability across their AI estate. F5 and CalypsoAI are more than the sum of their parts: high performance application delivery and AI security that enable businesses to deliver innovation faster without increasing risk,” said Donnchadh Casey, CEO of CalypsoAI.
