DevOps1 acquires Innablr to build Australian cloud and security powerhouse

Australian technology consultancy DevOps1 has acquired Melbourne-based cloud engineering firm Innablr to take on global system integrators.

The acquisition increases DevOps1’s workforce to 130 employees, with plans to more than double that number within two years

It builds on DevOps1’s 90 percent growth over the past two years, combining its expertise in cloud, security and platform engineering with Innablr’s deep data and cloud-native engineering capabilities.

Together, the companies aim to offer large-scale technology transformation services that meet the needs of Australian enterprises such as Allianz, Toyota Finance, Optus, and Vocus.

“Global players are consolidating the market which leaves Australian organisations with fewer specialist options at scale. By combining DevOps1 and Innablr, we’re building a homegrown consultancy with the size, depth and focus to compete head-on with the multinationals,” said Alex Rea (top), Founder and CEO of DevOps1.

“Our customers want an alternative that is close to the market, understands the local context, and can deliver specialist skills at pace,” he added.

Innablr CEO Dan Hornby emphasised the cultural and geographic fit between the two companies, noting DevOps1’s Sydney presence complements Innablr’s Melbourne base.

“Just as importantly, our service lines complemented each other, with cloud, engineering, data and security coming together to create a compelling offering”, he said.
