NEC has agreed to acquire NASDAQ-listed CSG Systems International for about US$2.9 billion.
The acquisition will expand NEC’s software-as-a-service (SaaS) capabilities and strengthen its global competitiveness in digital and cloud-based services.
It will bring together CSG’s extensive SaaS portfolio and customer base with NEC’s existing digital solutions, including its Netcracker subsidiary, which specialises in business and operational support systems.
Industry observers view this deal as NEC’s push to accelerate innovation in sectors such as telecommunications, media, financial services, healthcare, retail, and logistics.
Unanimously approved by both companies’ boards, the deal is expected to close in 2026 following regulatory approvals and shareholder consent.
