Singapore gets world’s first Univers Global Impact AI Lab

Singapore has become the home to the world’s first Global Impact AI Lab (IAL), launched by Univers in collaboration with AMD, Microsoft and National University of Singapore (NUS).

Supported by Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the lab aims to accelerate enterprise-scale AI and IoT innovation, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, operational reliability and systemic optimisation across sectors such as energy, infrastructure, transportation, and manufacturing.

Headquartered in Singapore, IAL will serve as a living lab where cutting-edge AI solutions are incubated and tested in collaboration with industry and academic partners.

Univers leads the lab’s strategy and operations, leveraging Microsoft’s AI and cloud capabilities, AMD’s high-performance AI hardware, and NUS’s research and talent development to transform AI innovations into scalable solutions that help enterprises make faster decisions, enhance productivity and achieve sustainability goals.

“AI and IoT achieve their full potential when powered by strong partnerships. IAL unites leading industry and academic expertise to transform innovation into enterprise advantage,” said Michael Ding (top), Global Executive Director of Univers.

The initiative supports Singapore’s strategic role as a global hub for AI-driven innovation, enhancing the nation’s competitive edge in technology and enterprise transformation.

Through the lab’s work, Singapore enterprises can expect significant improvements in energy use reduction, smarter operations and interconnected industrial ecosystems.

This milestone also creates opportunities for Singapore-based students to gain hands-on experience and mentorship in AI through NUS’s involvement, fostering future-ready talent aligned with industry needs.
