Workato opens Singapore AI Lab

Workato has opened its first AI Lab in Singapore as part of a strategic initiative to build the city-state’s leadership in applied AI and workforce development.

Supported by Digital Industry Singapore, the lab will focus on “translational” AI research — developing practical, deployable AI solutions for real-world business challenges.

The new facility will act as a collaborative hub for Workato, local universities and industry partners to bridge the gap between academic AI research and enterprise adoption.

“We welcome Workato’s decision to establish its first AI Lab outside of the US, in Singapore. The co-development of automation and agentic AI solutions across multiple industry sectors will reinforce Singapore’s position as a global leader in AI, and create exciting opportunities for our local workforce,” said Philbert Gomez, Senior Vice President, Head and Executive Director of Digital Industry Singapore.

The AI Lab will create 65 high-value tech jobs and provide thousands of students and educators with hands-on access to AI automation tools and real industry projects.

By working with Institutes of Higher Learning such as Nanyang Polytechnic and National University of Singapore, Workato aims to deepen the local talent pool and fast-track the deployment of automation and AI solutions across multiple sectors.

“By working together with postgraduate students, researchers and business leaders, we are co-developing practical AI solutions that address real-world challenges and help shape the workforce of the future,” said Ee Shan Sim, Head of Workato’s AI Lab Singapore.

Workato’s AI Lab builds on the recent launch of its AI Institute Alliance, which has already equipped more than 3,000 students and educators with automation and integration skills.

The lab takes this effort further by training the next generation of AI leaders on autonomous agents, digital twins and generative AI for business transformation.
