NVIDIA has taken a US$2 billion stake in Synopsys as the two companies combine to transform engineering and design across industries, leveraging NVIDIA’s accelerated computing and AI alongside Synopsys’ leading solutions for unprecedented simulation speed and scale beyond traditional CPU limits.
The collaboration targets R&D challenges in areas such as semiconductors, aerospace and automotive using NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and AI physics technologies and accelerating Synopsys’ compute-intensive applications such as chip design, physical verification, molecular simulations, and electromagnetic analysis.
“Our partnership with Synopsys harnesses the power of NVIDIA accelerated computing and AI to reimagine engineering and design — empowering engineers to invent the extraordinary products that will shape our future,” said Jensen Huang, Founder and CEO of NVIDIA.
“No two companies are better positioned to deliver AI-powered, holistic system design solutions than Synopsys and NVIDIA. Together we will re-engineer engineering and empower innovators everywhere to more efficiently realize their innovations,” said Sassine Ghazi, president and CEO of Synopsys.
Both companies are advancing agentic AI with Synopsys AgentEngineer integrated into NVIDIA’s NIM microservices, NeMo Agent Toolkit and Nemotron models to enable autonomous EDA and simulation workflows.
Further bridging physical and digital realms, the partnership develops sophisticated digital twins using NVIDIA Omniverse and Cosmos for virtual design, testing and validation in sectors including robotics, energy, healthcare, and industrial applications.
Cloud-ready GPU-accelerated solutions will make these tools accessible to engineering teams of all sizes, supported by joint go-to-market initiatives through Synopsys’ global sales network.
