Chipmaker Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co (TSMC) was affected by a computer virus attack over the weekend. However, the manufacturing of new Apple iPhones is not expected to be impacted.
A number of TSMC’s computer systems and fab tools were infected by a computer virus over the weekend. Full recover is expected today.
“TSMC has been attacked by viruses before, but this is the first time a virus attack has affected our production lines,” Lora Ho , Chief Financial Officer of TSMC told Bloomberg News.
