M1 has launched its commercial 5G RedCap network services for enterprise customers, the first publicly known deployment of RedCap for enterprises in Southeast Asia.
5G RedCap (Reduced Capability) is a next-generation technology that bridges legacy IoT systems and full-scale 5G deployments. It provides enhanced reliability, lower latency, longer battery life, reduced costs, improved coverage, and advanced security. These are critical for enterprise applications in sectors ranging from manufacturing to logistics.
The RedCap rollout further strengthens M1’s suite of 5G services, which includes advanced features such as Network Slicing, Speed Priority, VIP Access, and 5G Carrier Aggregation, all built on islandwide 5G Standalone (SA) coverage and maritime 5G connectivity along Singapore’s southern coast.
While Malaysia’s DNB and Thailand’s AIS have conducted significant trials and validations of 5G RedCap, and Singtel has completed successful trials in Singapore, M1 is the first telco in SEA to publicly launch commercial 5G RedCap services specifically for enterprise customers.
“By being the first in Southeast Asia to offer 5G RedCap network services for enterprises, we are enabling our business customers to gain competitive advantages through more efficient, reliable, and scalable connected solutions,” said Andrew Cheng (top), Chief of Enterprise Services at M1.
M1’s RedCap solution leverages Nokia’s technology that target industrial IoT devices and low-power wearables to broaden the range of enterprise use cases and accelerating IoT deployment across industries.
The telco is also partnering with local device manufacturer Ransnet to ensure a robust ecosystem of RedCap-compatible devices tailored for Singapore’s enterprise market.
M1’s latest offering is a significant step forward for Singapore’s enterprise connectivity landscape, enabling a new class of IoT and industrial applications that require efficient, secure and scalable wireless solutions.
With Singtel and StarHub also advancing their enterprise 5G portfolios — focusing on network slicing, unlimited data and industry collaborations — enterprises in Singapore now have access to a diverse and sophisticated array of 5G-powered solutions to drive digital transformation and innovation.
