BIG Caring Group accelerates digital transformation with SAP on AWS solution

BIG Caring Group has picked is Rise with SAP on Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the backbone of its unified, scalable cloud-based data platform.

Malaysia’s largest retail pharmacy has integrated operations across more than 500 stores nationwide to position itself at the forefront of innovation in pharmacy retail.

Formed by the 2023 merger of BIG Pharmacy Healthcare and Caring Pharmacy Group, BIG Caring Group began its modernisation journey in 2019, prompted by the limitations of legacy on-premise enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.

As store networks expanded, Caring Pharmacy recognised the need for a robust, modern ERP system to streamline operations and facilitate cross-divisional collaboration.

The initial deployment of SAP S/4HANA Retail in 2021 enabled improvements in supply chain management, inventory control and customer relationship management.

Following the merger, the complexity of retail operations intensified, prompting the group to accelerate digital transformation and unify disparate systems onto a secure, agile cloud platform.

“We have selected Rise with SAP on AWS to help us access more accurate and comprehensive data across the entire group, so that we can respond with more agility to customer demands and supply chain volatility. This strengthens our capacity to deliver enhanced customer experiences and future proof our business,” said Ooh Chin Boon (top), Chief Information Officer of BIG Caring Group.

By consolidating data and automating key business functions such as inventory management, procurement, financial reporting, and customer engagement, the group is reducing manual processes and operating costs while accelerating decision-making across all business units.

The cloud-based platform provides flexibility and scalability that allow BIG Caring Group to rapidly adjust operations in response to market changes by leveraging AWS’s regional infrastructure for resilience and efficiency.
