Agoda’s new AI chatbot provides instant answers for travellers

Singapore-headquartered digital travel platform Agoda has officially introduced its AI-powered Property AMA (Ask Me Anything) Bot that delivers instant hotel-specific answers for users across Asia and beyond.

For Singapore travellers, who are among the most frequent users of online travel platforms in Southeast Asia, this tool will help reduce information overload when comparing hotels.

Since its soft debut earlier this year, the chatbot has already been managing more than 30,000 hotel-related queries daily. Powered by ChatGPT and live property data, it addresses practical questions such as availability of parking, room amenities or the quality of breakfast to help users make quicker, more informed booking decisions.

“Helping travellers get the answers they need, when they need them, is central to building trust in our platform and delivering even more value to customers. The Property AMA Bot reduces uncertainty by answering questions instantly, which in turn leads to a smoother, more satisfying booking experience,” said Idan Zalzberg, Chief Technology Officer of Agoda.

The tool integrates seamlessly across Agoda’s desktop, mobile web and app to ensure a consistent user experience for Singapore residents who are increasingly relying on mobile-first booking.

Growing trend in travel tech

Agoda’s move reflects a broader industry shift as AI-powered assistants become standard for major travel platforms. Booking.com has an AI Trip Planner that uses a chat-based system to understand travellers’ preferences and generate interactive, in-depth itineraries, while Expedia has an app-integrated assistant for booking support and personalised recommendations.

Trip.com has rolled out its TripGenie chatbot to offer live conversational trip planning, and Kayak has adopted ChatGPT for natural language travel searches. Skyscanner is using AI tools to streamline holiday package discovery.

For Singapore, where demand for short-haul getaways to destinations such as Bangkok, Bali and Kuala Lumpur remains strong, instant response features from AI systems could redefine how quickly and confidently travellers lock in accommodation.
